Kristen Kaplan, MPA, Associate Director

Ms. Kaplan is the Associate Director of ConnectNetwork. Prior to this position she spent three years with Virginia Commonwealth University's Office of Public Policy Training (OPPT) where she worked on various projects for the public sector, including Governor Kaine's Workforce Development Strategic Plan and the Commission on Sexual Violence; Governor Warner’s Youth Public Safety Advisory Council (GYPSAC); an evaluation of the DMV’s Transportation Safety Services’ grant program; and co-managed the Virginia Executive Institute. Before joining OPPT she helped run Conservation International’s $5 million Healthy Communities Initiative and also worked at ICF Consulting, focusing on nonprofit contracts. Ms. Kaplan received her B.A. in Political Science at James Madison University and her Masters in Public Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management at Virginia Commonwealth University in May 2006. In her spare time she serves on the Jr. League of Richmond’s Community Response Committee, as a delegate of the national Nonprofit Congress and is a founder of Hands On Greater Richmond, a volunteer initiative.
