Start a New Network
Two-Step Process: Assessment & Network Development

Phase I, Feasibility Assessment:

Before we ask for a formal commitment to developing a Network, good practices mandate a feasibility study to find out if the tool will be utilized, establish that a Network would not duplicate existing efforts and identify both the assets on which we can build and the issues that most concern local nonprofits. Research, experience and results in Richmond, Rappahannock and Southside tell us that ConnectNetwork is a solution that makes sense for many communities.

Phase II, Network Development:

The initial assessment provides the basis for a community decision about whether to develop a local Network. If the Network and local community agree to go forward, Richmond-based technical and content development staff work with the lead partners and local nonprofits who provide ongoing feedback to tailor the resource to suit local/regional conditions. The Network also trains and manages the locally based content developers and/or coordinator through year one (Network development and launch).

Timetable:

Timing depends on local readiness and existing conditions. The feasibility assessment includes preliminary planning as well as research and typically lasts three months. If a dedicated local coordinator is in place, an initial iteration requires two to four months to create with an additional month to gain user feedback and orchestrate an official launch.
